U.S. Supreme Court's Fall Term

U.S. Supreme Court Justices have had the last few months off. Chief Justice John Roberts had a teaching jaunt to Malta, while others took similar trips to Italy. Although it's been a whole summer since the Court issued its controversial health care ruling, speculation remains about just who was responsible for the infamous leak of Robert's change of heart.

Regardless, they'll be reunited in chambers next week, for the start of the new term. Court watcher, Lisa McElroy will join us to highlight some of the cases on their docket — dog sniffing, wiretapping, and affirmative action, to name just a few. As of this writing, it's not clear whether the Justices will take up the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) or California's Proposition 8, which prohibits same sex marriage. But McElroy and others think there's a good chance they will hear arguments about these issues in the coming year.

What cases are you looking forward to the Supreme Court taking up?

GUEST:

  • Lisa McElroy: Associate professor of law at the Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University
