Wolves are crossing the Snake River and setting up shop in Oregon. Will Oregonians tolerate them, or are we still living with the same prejudices from long ago concerning these creatures? Carter Niemeyer was in on the ground floor of wolf reintroduction in the Northern Rockies and has seen it all (and heard it all) when it comes to wolves and the problems they cause - both real and imagined. His recently published memoir, Wolfer, reveals rich lessons about wildlife, people, and the wrecks that occur when fantasies about wolves meet realities on the ground.
