on Second Chances

There is nothing except now.
The past or the future, simply do not exist.
Time to the human is physically lineal, while we can change the speed at which we perceive time to pass at this point in our evolution, we can not reverse it in any participatory way.  Thus there can never be a true second chance; there is only the first chance, the same one you face now.  You can make any choice at will, the human species was designed this way.
A while ago, ages or seconds, I learned what is going to kill me, sooner then I might choose… In that moment time stopped. In that fleeting brush with infinity I could choose anything.  Knowing that I have in this lifetime never been anywhere, except here in this moment it was interesting that when time started again I found it to be a surprisingly different place.  Is this the so called a second chance; or is it more accurately change in a second?

Many meanings; but in this case 88 = BB or the "nondenominational" Big Brother.

“Who believes any statistic churned out by a Govt that routinely lies to its people?“

‘88’ would not do that!

Would they?

on Toxic Water?

Having the experience of being flat lied to, by the unelected bureaucracy of Deschutes County (having spent millions of tax dollars to prop up their untenable position) about the water in Deschutes County, I have learned to be highly suspect of such information.  I have concerns certainly, now I have one more thing to learn about.

Trust the people/agencies that are there to protect the public?  Based on direct experience: NONE!  Follow the money.

on Wage Woes

If you do not have manufacturing and sell to the world, you are not ever going to have a robust long term economy.  You will ride bubble to bubble and each 'pop' will be increasingly worse.

on Obama's Popularity

In order of the questions:
There is no difference between the candidate who had done nothing of any substance except campaign and the president who has done nothing, other then he campaigned.  Then again anyone that looked hard at the candidate knew this is what was going to happen.  Oh well, I didn’t vote for him OR that old white guy.
The current president has proven to be exactly what I predicted him to be in 2007 when I called the election and started looking for a good candidate to write in.
I do not believe in partisanship, thus there can be working relationships and give and take to gain the result and it is by results that effectiveness should be measured, certainly NOT how well he toed the party line.
I find it hilarious that the democrats are so locked in their myopic partisanship that the can not see the huge tactical advantage that their figurehead has given them for the next election cycle.  Continue with the republican’s policy and beat them to death with it starting in a bout a year, when the economy still hasn’t recovered.

This president might even be good in his second term; sort of like on the job training!  However, if he should somehow learn the actual job and start doing and accomplishing as the president of ALL of the United States, his party will vilify him for doing what is right, rather then what the democratic party would do.

The concept of  “No Labels” is long overdue!

Have a great day!

on Warming Up to Climate Change

I’m concerned not with the rate of change; I am not going to worry about what changes, change will happen; human caused or no.
Rather I am concerned with the unsolvable issues that exist to our south.
There are multi-million’s of people that are within only a few years going to be faced with having NO water supply.  There was a report on one of the wire services that there would be shortages in LA, Vegas, Etc in 2012 if not 2011.  Locating massive populations in areas that have no real water is rather stupid, but it was done.

The question is if GW plays out as predicted, what plans does Oregon have for several million refugees, escaping a destroyed economy, and no water, fleeing to a state that can not support the existing population?  This will happen suddenly,  I wonder what plans are being contemplated, time is, likely short...

I'm betting that is we duct taped the politicians mouths shut we would see a minimum 1°F drop immediately!

If we eliminated SPAM we could get another 2°F.

on The 2010 Election Divide

Isn’t the inherent nature of conservative ideology pessimistic?

I would answer No, it is not pessimistic; rather it is (at the center) prudent, just as at the center so to is the nature of the liberal ideology.

on The 2010 Election Divide

I find it rather amusing, and hopeful; Liberal (OPB), Conservative (Fox) doing something jointly.

However there is no conclusion with a 4.9% margin of error.

on Fandom

I consider myself lucky; I have never been a “Fan” of anything.
The word “Fan” is slang, short for “Fanatic”, a noun, describing the uncritical and extreme devotion to someone/thing or belief; as in religion, politics and sports.  The whole Fanatic thing leaves me questioning the Fanatics intelligence, it matters not the subject of the devotion be it sports or Fundamentalist Jihad.
The actions of the sports Fanatic in particular provide much laughter at the Fan.  The political fanatic regardless of liberal or conservative just gets monotonous and mind numbingly old fast, even faster then the rabid Golf Fanatic!
There really should be a global, mandatory, 12-step for all fanatics.

on Public Transit

"Real" Trains could be usefull if I could drive my car onto one in say Bend and drive it off in PDX or Seattle that would be great!  Doing that would allow me to pick up the supplies and parts I need and take the train back to Bend!
