on A Drop to Drink
I have a question regarding the eastern 2/3 of the state. That part of the state is High Desert. How would we possibly come up with enough water for the residents in that part of the state?

on The Employment Boom
I am responding to the on-air question about what those of us are doing in our 30's and 40's about retirement. I have been unable to do a thing about it. I came through a divorce with nothing myself and my kids. I am lucky to have a job that just pays the bills, but doesn't have benefits. Retirement? (crazed laughter.....) I will probably be working until I die.

on Report Cards For Special Education
As a former public school teacher in Oregon, and a parent with one IEP student and one gifted student, I think we are spending way too much time on 'measuring' and 'measuring up.' My children have paperwork identifying special needs, but nothing specific really seems to be happening in any serious way to help them meet their goals. The goals are written down, but then they are tossed into the regular classroom, with the regular expectations and so far as I can tell, few modifications made to help the situation be more relevant and appropriate for their needs. Where did the common sense go in this process? It's like we've thrown developmental appropriateness completely out the window.

on Clinton and the Generational Gender Divide
I think it's way past time we see more women in positions of power in politic - such as the role of President. However, I don't feel particuarly good about this woman (Hilary clinton.) She would be so divisive. The mouthy conservative talk show hosts certainly don't need the fodder. We need someone who can bring the country together. I'm female, but I just can't see voting for a person simply because of their sex. They need to be a good candidate as well. I just don't see that with Clinton. Also, the aura of entitlement she projects mostly just turns me off.

on Domestic Partnerships vs. Initiative Process
With all of the major issues going on right now, such as a war, our faltering economy, the environment, how can one possibly have the time to pursue keeping non-married couples from having the same rights as married people? Are you serious? If we had more relevant, more transparent issues being initiated, this process might work better. It seems like a great many of the initiatives we are presented with don't actually do what they are purported to do. No wonder people are wary of the initiative process. No wonder the attorney general and judges have to get involved.
