I'm a bike commuter and one thing I hate about interactions with cars is when cars ignore the right-of-way rules and stop to wave me across a street. Bicyclists should be treated just like cars and when we aren't treated that way, it's confusing for us and dangerous--sometimes a motorist will stop and wave me across the street when other lanes of traffic are still flowing. I feel bullied and forced to cross the street when I should be watching out for my life and following the rules of the road.

I agree with those who say that simply increasing the frequency of train trips would help a lot. I live in Corvallis and my family is in Sacramento County. We love to ride on the train, but only one train goes from Oregon to Sacramento per day and the train that heads north from Sacramento leaves the station at 12 midnight. My mother's house is about 20 miles from Sacramento--we don't have any family members who really want to drive us to the train station at midnight. Because of this, we usually drive. We'd much prefer to take the train.

I'm very glad you will be our new senator! Thank you for addressing climate change during this show. Have you read Paul Krugman's The Conscious of a Liberal? In it he talks about his ideas about national health care among other things that I find very exciting.
