on What are High School Sports For?

RE: high school sports. This is sort of off-topic as stated above, but I feel really strongly that sports are important for developing the whole person (and I include dance, cheerleading, etc. in the category of sports). I was fortunate enough to attend a high school that was so small I could be an athlete, a band member (and when you're carrying a baritone and wearing a wool uniform, marching band is a SPORT!), and a straight-A student. Sports just plain made me feel good, and they were fun. Now, I'm watching my oldest daughter break out of her middle-school typecasting of "brainiac" and compete happily in year-round sports. Vigorous daily exercise is a proven mood lifter (good God, I sound like a 1960s film-strip!) and I'm grateful that my kids have the opportunity to participate. As far as always losing...my second daughter's soccer team lost most of their games this season, but her team executed really well and she had a blast. That's what counts, isn't it?

You seem to have missed the point I was trying to make. Adams lied publicly when asked about the relationship, he orchestrated a nasty PR campaign against the gay man who made the accusation, he lied to his supporters. He did NOT say "None of your business, next question please." I don't give a hoot who he or anyone else sleeps with--it's not my business. But I'm fed up with a process that honors and protects people who will say/do anything to get elected, and then hide behind "You wouldn't have believed me if I'd told the truth!" as an excuse.

I'm tired of being lied to by politicians, and I'm especially tired of being told that being lied to is acceptable. Let's get some personal responsibility and credibility back in the game.
