on Leading a Horse to Slaughter
I have eaten horse meat in France and it was great. I would buy it from the supermarket and would actually feel better about saving the environment by eating an unwanted animal that can destruct rangelands than one that was raised just for meat.

on Obama Rolls Back Bush Logging Plan
Sustainable harvest of timber is the only realistic way to ensure conservation of our natural resources and economic support for rural communities. We have the knowledge, the skills, the science, and the incentive to harvest timber at a sustainable rate, yet so many want to preserve our forests, instead of conserving them. Preservation efforts and current forest policies have lead to many unhealthy stands of timber. These forests do not produce good lumber, and are not necessarily beneficial to wildlife. My hope is that the current administration will replace the WOPR with a policy that embraces sustainable harvest, and realizes that biodiversity can be increased through good management.

I disagree. The oil companies have made record profits- despite no major changes in supply or demand. I say the legislature should go after the oil companies and not those who have worked hard to make a decent income. I think the current increase is inherently unfair for the (relatively) rich.

I applaud the legislature for banning the use of hand-held cell phones while driving. I am so sick and tired of people failing to use their turn signals, making dangerous maneuvers, etc. because they are on the phone. However, I hope the State Police get the support they need to enforce the new regulations.

I was born in England and now live in the US. When I meet people, they often ask where I am from. I say "I'm English". Many folks then claim to be English, despite never having been to England. I am confused by how folks claim to be English, yet are so proud to be American? It seems to me folks are confused about what and who they are- maybe because this is such a (relatively) young country?

But what do you think the reaction would have been in the US if other countries had questioned the results? It seems to me the US has assigned itself as 'world cop' but gets very defensive when questioned?

There has been much discussion in many countries regarding the validity of the election results and what, if anything, should be done about it.
When Geroge Bush beat John Kerry in the U.S. Election, many questioned the validity of those results.
What do you think the reaction would have been in the U.S. if other countries had discussed taking action to find out if that election was rigged?

It has been documented in several studies that domestic cats can decimate wild songbird populations. However, I think your proposed fix is unlikely to garner much support. How about a law requiring all cats to wear a bell so they cannot sneak up on birds?

What is being sprayed? How does spraying contribute to erosion?

Mr. Kroger keeps stating that "None of the rivers in Oregon meet federal water quality standards". Can he please be more specific, i.e. standards for what? Temperature, sewage discharge, heavy metals, PH? And who does Mr. Kroger intend to prosecute to fix these problems?
