on Immigration Law

I applaud OPB for reporting the facts, it’s about time…

Regarding the poll, what if Oregonian’s had been asked: “considering the high level and predicted on-going statewide unemployment, are you willing to allow local, county and state law enforcement agencies to help reduce the illegal competition for local jobs by helping enforce our nation’s immigration laws?”

Coordinating law enforcement agencies at the national, state, county and city level shouldn’t be all that expensive; they do it for illegal drugs on a daily basis.

Those who were once migrants have become illegal immigrants – two seriously different situations.  A well regulated program for migrant workers may be beneficial to Oregon; a growing illegal underground isn’t.

My first contribution:

As enforcement of our nation’s immigration laws are selectively ignored from community to community – must the nation fund a parallel federal police force equal to our city, county and state agencies – or simply require those agencies to uphold our laws at a fraction the cost?
