on State Elections
We have inconsistent expectations of our government--we expect our new administration to fix the damage from the past 8 years in only two years that they have been in the majority. There are rabid anti-government voters who rail at regulation but scream for government help when they are in need. I feel like I live in Bizarro World when people will tolerate a costly and unnecessary war in which lives and our treasury are expended, but are utterly opposed to having our nation's health care system reformed for their better interests. I hope Americans prove the polls wrong and vote in more Democrats so that we can actually get the ball rolling on some middle class benefiting policies.

on Immigration Law
This IS a racial issue! If it were white people, there would not be this level of upset. Illegal immigrants are not entitled to benefits that taxpayers provide. The fields would not be harvested if it weren't for hardworking immigrants. We can no longer rely on our spoiled youth or lazy citizens who would not even do this work for $30 per hour. You never see Hispanic people with a sign on the corners.

on Immigration Law
People with money have taken advantage of immigrant laborers throughout history. Black slaves were used at plantations, Irish workers were used in early manufacturing and mining operations, Chinese workers were imported to build railroads, and Hispanic workers were brought in to work our agricultural operations. I am a person of color and not Hispanic, but I refuse to visit Arizona while that law is in effect, and am so disappointed that Oregonians would even consider a law in which I would have to carry around all of my documentation--especially since I have been a citizen since birth.
I have never seen a Hispanic on the corner begging for unearned funding.
