on Our High School

While it is true that larger schools can offer students more choices of courses, larger schools also make it more likely that students will be overlooked and not known well by any adults in the school -- a key factor to school success.  It is much more important for students to be known well by adults than it is to offer a smorgasborg of choices in every school.  Differentiating curriculum and engaging all students within the core curriculum is a far more effective way to teach and to meet the needs of a diverse student body.  I am appalled that the conversation about redesign seems limited to creating fewer, larger schools rather than engaging a serious discussion about the quality of instruction in every classroom.
