We recently had an incident like this at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Oregon. In response to a workshop the school's Diversity Achievement Center was holding about growing up gay, a student posted vulgar posters of a nature that I am not inclined to repeat. They were immediately taken down, but the incident has sparked a lot of discussion at our school. Where do people's rights lie? The posters at our school were malicious and untrue. Had they been factual but obscene to some, should they be left up? Obviously you can't make everyone happy. It's hard to draw the line.
