on Surviving the Quarter-Life Crisis
Generally--I found too (Baby boomer here) that the cult of career was strongly oversold-after I had given so much to that idea. (3 years of law school and desperately trying to cram myself into that value system.) A comment for Meghan: my midlife crisis finally let me enjoy the disperate things I was interested in and knew more than a little bit about. I can't imagine life without the richness of these perhaps dilitantish pursuits. The answer is not limiting the pursuits and interests--that's what was wrong with the slavish career head. Keep enjoying those things you love and grow more of them. Life is rich.

on The "P" Word and Climate Change
People who grew up with siblings often have such a negative idea about being an only child and therefore of having just one child. Maybe we "only's" need to spread the word--there's nothing wrong with it, there are advantages, and we don't feel bereft. You can have a child without having children, which may allow you to offer more to that child, save for retirement and avoid over-population. Don't feel guilty.

on H1N What?
I get a seasonal flu vaccine each year and I've already gotten mine. This tradition started when I took the notorious Swine flu vaccine in 1976. Does that show offer me any protection against H1N1? or don't they really know? Do I need the new shot?
