on Surviving the Quarter-Life Crisis

Writing to Think Out Loud from my temp job doing data entry. I moved to Portland after completing my MA from NYU. I joke by saying "and look at me now," but in all seriousness I've worked very hard and yet I feel a bit schizophrenic after a year and a half of on-again off-again temp jobs, living in a house full of distracting roommates, feeling pressure from myself, and a large feeling of uncertainty about the future. Lately there is the overwhelming feeling like I'm waiting for something, but have no idea what it is yet.

on Water: From the Bottle or the Tap?

I feel lucky to at least be living somewhere (Portland) where I can drink good tasting water from the tap. Growing up in Southern California--where outreach about water conservation seems ridiculously mininal--I can remember water coming out the tap that actually smelled bad.
