75% (or more) households are Poor. After the parents has supported these kids for 18 years, you expect them to continue to support them in their adulthood? Unless the "kid" is gonna contribute financially to the household, it's time to go!

The crime rate has been going down for Decades! The baby-boomers and Vietnam Generation are all getting older. Many of my generation have already been to prison. Even if not, we just don't do that stupid crap any longer.
Companies like Correction Corporation of America have tried to lie and imply that crime is UP so that they can influence lawmakers into locking more people up. They make money from it. America has a larger percentage of it's population locked-up than any other "Western" nation.
Most people are being locked-up because they are Poor. If there were more jobs, people wouldn't have to commit crimes.
BTW-- You are more likely to be shot by a Police Officer in Portland than by a "Criminal".

We are talking about MEDICAL marijuana use, Not recreational use... But either way... Why does this guy CARE if marijuana is legalized. Are you just scared that you might not be able to lock people up for getting a buzz? It has already been proven that all those lie that the Anti-Pot people state are just that... LIES. This guy is a Prosecutor and just wants to justify oppressing poor pot-heads. More people die in Alcohol-related crimes than because of Pot use. If marijuana dispensaries were allowed, that would Stop illegal pot sales to people who have a card. But these conservatives just want to Control people. They have no legitimate reason to want to stop marijuana despensaries! Their true reason is to exert Control! Not that it makes any real difference to them, it is just a control thing. Dispensaries would add tax money to the State also... But y'all just are skeered someone might have some FUN! If these people NEEDED the marijuana themselves, they would be asking for a Tax Break to subsidize their Pot.

'Back East' there still are ethnic neighborhoods. Italian, Polish, German, Jewish, Portuguese, Armenian...
Portland has none of that diversity... Try to find a Real deli in Portland. (Noah's Bagels don't count.)
Kell's Pub and the Greek Cuisina are no substitute for a true Irish or Greek neighborhood and culture.

All those places have much larger black populations.
But I still had mostly white friends. (I am caucasian, within three generations of Mother Finland.)
Why is it that I must go out in search of Black friends, and why must any conversation about race always be about Black people?
In this area, we have large Asian and Mexican/Central American/South American populations. Not to mention Indigenous Americans.
But the conversation is Always about Black Americans.
All the "Racial" issues that Afro-centric people complain about are financial issues that affect poor people of all races/elasticities.
But the Black people seem to think they deserve special treatment.
Hey, we're poor! Live with it!
[Also, why is there a Professor of Black Studies, and that is cool. But if there was a Professor of White Studies, that would be racist.]
