on Frashour Fired
luckley, your poorly constructed sentences and backwards syntax clearly indicate your low level of education, and everyone knows unedcuated people are never biggoted or misinformed. so obviously the case here isn't about a racist whose terrified of people who look, act, or think differently.

The Portland Police work for the citizens of Portland, when they shoot and kill a citizen of our city, they must be held accountable, even "when things don't go right." If you are a police office and you shoot and kill an unarmed citizen, you should be fired. And the guest fromthe police association is right; this is a political issue: the people demand action. And perosnally, I have faith in our leaders when they take the bold move to fire police officers that shoot and kill citizens.

FredPDX, as I'm sure you know from your time in the service, respect is earned, not provided. As the state of affairs with the PDX PD stands right now, especially with how this current issue is being treated, I do not think the PD has earned my respect.

What are the police in portland doing? They're killing people. What would happen to a citizen of portland if they behaved as the portland PD does? It is time to take away the PDX PD's ability to use deadly force by a city-wide decree. Mayor Adams, City Council, it's time to take away to police department's right to murder our citizens. Never Again. NO MORE POLICE MURDERS!

on Checking Credit
I am a graduate student at Portland State University. Before I was a graduate student, I needed to take out student loans to pay for my undergraduate education. The loans ended up totaling about $45,000. What frightenes me about employeers checking my credit history is that this loan amount appears on my history as debt--just debt--the history doesn't say anything about the fact that the money I owe is for student loans. So a future employer looks at that history and thinks, 'he's not responsible; look at how much debt he has.' In the end, if this employer decides not to hire me because of my debt (the debt I accumulated getting an education so I could get a good job), where does that leave me. Checking a credit history as a part of a job application is absurd. If you want to know if an employee is responsible, then call his/her past employers. Getting a job is not getting a loan.
