on The Economics of the Death Penalty
Stop giving them so many appeals. I understand that mistakes are made in our judicial system. so you get 2 years to get NEW information if none is present no appeals no trials just death, and not the nice and easy injection do it however is cheapest even if that means you just push em off a cliff. Whatever happened to when inmates had to work while in jail. that is a huge resource we could be using to "keep oregon green" if nothing else make them smash big rocks into little rocks sun up to sun down. dig a hole fill it in and do it again.

on No Place to Call Home: Rural Homelessness
yes there are laws preventing this. usually zoning laws prevent these camps. the problem is if we allow them in rural areas those areas will become packed with homeless. and all the problems the homeless bring with them. Not to mention the increased cost and need for law enforcement.

I think there is like green energy, or continued education for the people that are here, or just increasing everyones quality of life. Children are the bane of our planet.

it is actually $1500 i recommended to my rep to lower this to pay for better schools and he stated that it would not happen and they may increase the tax credit

To everyone else who has decided to be child free I thank you for being selfless enough to realize that we are in dire straights and must change or watch our selves perish

on Saving Salmon
How would a 2 year stop on all fishing for the columbia and its tributaries help the salmon replenish there dwindling population. And if we want to keep the fish alive at the damns we need to start killing off the seals that feast on the salmon.

on Change to Oregon Rape Law?
I am not saying its a crime but what i am saying is if that person is so far out of it how can they remember to PROVE they were raped..... Remember innocent until proven guilty? The problem is it becomes a he said she said argument

on Change to Oregon Rape Law?
I am sorry but there are different levels of everything. But simply the way this question was posed to on the blog is biased if a person is durnk and is raped? is it rape?........ C'mon you guys can do better than that when posing a debatable question. I would say niether party was in there full functioning state of mind and if she was drunk enough to pass out she could have said yes even earlier in the night and not remember. Does a man or woman deserve to go to jail in that event?

I agree 100% with you increase taxes on people with children and use that money to make the system better no more refunds for doing the same thing a rabbit does.... reproduce

okay how about those who have children pay a tax for that child to go to school and those with "sped" children pay a slightly higher tax cause there children need more money to be educated.... and switch to a pay to play situation for sports.. the only people that get a tax break are the people who have children that are above average cause well lets face it those are going to be our leaders in the future

on Paying for Special Ed
This is one of the fundamental problems with the system... everyone looks to someone else to handle the problems they bring along. It is not the school districts fault they would rather invest there money in students that are not disabled esspecially during this recession. I feel for the parents of "special needs" children but, simply put they are responsible for there childs needs and education... If they didn't want to have to take care of it they shouldn't have had it.

on Iran from the Northwest
@ Paul K the differance between the bush/kerry election was that we left our system completely open. Had we shut out all foriegn media and if the government tried to stop the media from reporting the situation would have been entirely different

on Iran from the Northwest
I don't know if the Iranian elections were rigged or not as i am not there and have no proof either way.... from what i have seen on you tube and around the blogisphere I do not believe the Iranian gov is handling this issue the best possible way. The supreme leader like said before should be a uniter of his people. If he did not want to sponsor a new election that is up to him his aggressive tone did not help the situation in my opinion. That being said there has to be something said for the government not trying to stop all media going out of the country. This screams we have something to hide which is why alot of us believe the vote was rigged had they had the election and tons of protesters came out against the winner and the government said to the world.....
Come report on how grand our democracy is we had an 85% turn out. Our people are not happy but they have the freedom to protest and raise there concerns. We will look into there concerns and resolve this issue.
If this stance had been adopted there would be alot better vision of the iranian governement in the worlds eyes. Instead the gov has chosen to adopt a dictorial stance...... IE we must not let the world see us having problems controling our populace this could make us look bad, when actually that stance is making them look much worse.
The fact he blamed the west for the problems in his government. Is well childish instead of saying why are my people upset and how can i unite the country. He said its all there fault not mine
Mr supreme leader he who points the finger has 4 more pointing back at him.

on High Speed Possibilities
I spent a couple years in Germany and utilized the high speed rail there all the time. I think this is a good start but in order for the project to trully be viable they will need to build smaller lines that go to the suburbs with in 30 min of the major city the high speed train stops at. Even if the rail doesn't take off atleast it will be some jobs in the mean time.

undocumented = illegal = pays for out of state tution because they are not state residents this bill is rediclous. The undocumented people should be deported the minute they sign up for school. The simple fact of the matter is they are criminals and i don't want to go to school with criminals
