My daughter (11) complained that she was tired of overscheduled summers but she is very social and I knew she would get bored. (Also, my husband and I each work part time and we need to have some time when she is "covered" during the summer.

Working with my daughter, we selected five of her favorite friends. I contacted their parents and we now have a M-F schedule where my daughter hosts or goes to the house of each of these five friends. (Is it Thursday? it must be Cailin!).

It's worked out better than I'd hoped. She is active, happy and we don't have to think from day to day "What are we going to do today?"
