I'd like to thank Jim Beal for his well-considered thoughts and to everyone who participated.  As an Oregon voter, Ms. Burdick has lost my vote, although I thank her for being open about her opinions.  I am much more frightened by her than I would by meeting Jim Beal in a Starbucks with his openly-carried firearm.  His presence would actually comfort me.  It is people like Ms. Burdick who seek to give away the rights our forefathers fought and died for that scare me to the core.

on Homeless Man Shot to Death by Portland Police

  At this point, I don't believe I have enough information to make an informed decision for myself, but for those people who suggest shooting in the leg or the arm--you need to realize what accuracy is reasonable from a standard police-issue firearm if one removes the human being from the equation.  Placed in a machine rest it is not uncommon for the accuracy to vary several inches at 'shooting distances.'  Adding the human being into the equation obviously varies this more as fine muscle control goes out the window in a stressful situation.  Shooting accuracies shown on television are not realistic.

on Chief Sizer Speaks

To see a situation in which a police officer waited too long to shoot, go to www.ignatius-piazza-front-sight.com/2010/01/18/ignatius-piazza-stop-screaming-start-shooting/#video.  I am not writing in support of nor against the Portland Police Situation.  I think I need more information.  I do see this video as very chilling, and informative for me.  Perhaps it will be for others as well.
