OPB provides the community with a variety of resources and services so that all of our viewers and listeners can enjoy our programming. We are also involved with the Emergency Alert System to keep everyone informed of the latest information related to many types of emergency situations.

- Golden Hours is a special radio reading service for blind, sight-impaired and senior citizens.
Find out more … - Closed Captioning
- Closed captioning is designed to assist deaf or hearing-impaired people, English Language Learners, young children learning to read and many others by displaying the dialogue or transcript of the audio portion of the program as printed words on the television screen.
- To determine whether a program is closed captioned, look for the symbol “CC” in the OPB Member Guide or in the TV schedule on our Web site.
- You can turn on closed captioning using either a set-top decoder or a caption-ready TV set.

- Described Video
- Described video is designed to assist people who are blind or visually impaired. In a program with described video, a narrator may describe the setting, identify who is speaking, relay action taking place and provide other relevant information. The description is carefully timed so that it does not interfere with the dialogue or program narration. Some OPB local productions have described video.
- To determine whether a program has described video, look for the symbol "DVI" in the OPB Member Guide or in the TV schedule on our Web site.
- You can hear described video through OPB TV’s Second Audio Programming (SAP) channel. The SAP channel is accessed through a stereo television set or the newer VCRs. Some stereo televisions have a switch that will activate the SAP channel, while other sets and many VCRs have a menu item that will say “Stereo/SAP.”
