Wildfires continue to rage in much of Oregon and new evacuation orders continue to be issued in communities all over the state. About a half a million people in the state are now under level 1, 2 or 3 evacuation orders with at least 30,000-40,000 people already displaced. In Phoenix and Talent, residents are struggling to comprehend the enormity of the losses in their communities, which have been characterized as “substantially destroyed.” We get the latest from OPB news reporter Conrad Wilson and talk with the city manager for Talent, Sandra Spelliscy.
