Kickstart the week with three new songs hand-picked for your playlist.

Slang — “Wilder”

THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR:

Portland rock outfit Slang consists of veteran musicians Janet Weiss (Sleater-Kinney, Quasi), Drew Grow (Modern Kin), Kathy Foster (The Thermals) and Anita Lee Elliot (Viva Voce). “Wilder” is the first single from the supergroup’s debut album “Cockroach In A Small Town,” set for release on May 27 via Kill Rock Stars. The track grabs you from its opening moments with Weiss’ pounding percussion setting the tone for Grow’s intense vocal performance.

Rural Alberta Advantage — “CANDU”

Canadian band Rural Alberta Advantage recently dropped a couple of new tracks as part of an ongoing series of singles and EPs set to be released throughout the year. The folk-rock song “CANDU” is the standout so far. The performance artfully flows through a series of beautiful crescendos underpinned by a winsome piano and subtle guitar.

Pachyman feat. Winter — “All Night Long”

Musician Pachy Garcia, who performs as Pachyman, grew up in Puerto Rico where he was heavily influenced by the reggae music from nearby Jamaica. He recently collaborated with Brazilian-American vocalist Winter on “All Night Long.” This track tickles the ear with a rocksteady groove carried forward by Winter’s siren-like vocals. The song’s fusion of electric pianos and synthesizers with acoustic reggae sets it apart. “The combination of those worlds with a female vocal is magical,” said Garcia.
