Portland artist Brin Levinson takes his digital camera with him almost everywhere he goes. He never knows when he might see an object, image or viewpoint that would make a good idea for one of his paintings.
Levinson’s work, which seems inspired both by industrial architecture and a curious sense of nostalgia, transports viewers to a hyper-realistic world where wild creatures appear in familiar urban surroundings.
“I love painting nature and I love painting cities, and I think the two next to each other create a really great contrast,” explains Levinson. “It’s much more interesting combined than each element on its own.”
