Oregon's newest classical music festival features Orpheus Academy Northwest, which provides educational activities for young musicians.  The activities include training sessions for orchestra players, a string masterclass and a concert. Featured artists include Canadian violinist Carla Trynchuk, conductor Travis Hatton and local professional string players, serving as mentors to the young musicians.

The Oregon Music Festival (OMF) provides the Portland metro area and all of Oregon with a summer event dedicated to symphonic music as well as educational activities for advanced youth musicians.

The Orpheus Academy Orchestra concert will include Alfred Schnittke's Suite in the Old Style, Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5, and Shostakovich's Symphony for Strings, an arrangement of his String Quartet No. 8.
