Japanese American (Nissei) soldiers from Hood River will participate in a free discussion in the next Oregon Encyclopedia History Night. In Nissei Soldiers Break Their Silence, the former soldiers will talk about the racism they faced after serving with distinction in World War II.  The talk is presented by Linda Tamura, Willamette University professor and author of "Hood River Issei: An Oral History of Japanese Settlers in Oregon's Hood River Valley."

The event is free to the public.
