When Jennifer Mayerle was much younger, she had an opportunity to see a concert at Eddie Condon’s, a now-defunct jazz club in New York City. Throughout the evening she realized she wasn’t just at a concert: it was an authentic experience of a vibrant culture that was quickly fading from popularity.

Finding herself again in New York for the summer of 2014, she wanted her teenage daughter  to experience what what she had remembered so fondly. They happened upon a concert at Birdland, another classic New York Jazz club, where legendary pianist Barbara Carroll was playing for the evening. The experience was so much more than she could have bargained for when her favorite singer entered the club.
