BRIDGETOWN BIG BANDS
Mondays are a day of rest for musicians. The weekend club gigs and weddings are out of the way. That's when those hard-working cats can relax, hang out, and play the music they really love. In the tradition of bands like the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and the Mingus Big Band, the Jack London Revue is proud to bring that tradition to Portland. Starting this April, Soul'd Out Productions in association with Mike Curtis present the hottest, baddest and biggest bands the Rose City has to offer.
Whether it's the classic swing sound of Benny Goodman and Harry James, the Harlem Renaissance beats of Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway, rock-fueled powerhouses like Buddy Rich and Maynard Ferguson, classic crooners from Ella and Frankie to Harry Connick Jr. and Michael Buble, or the ultra modern soundscapes of Maria Schneider and Toshiko Akioshi, everything is on the table. If you've never experienced the exhilaration of hearing twelve crack horn players in the heat of a big shout chorus, you don't know what you're missing.
