Liberation Conversation

Hosted by music anthropologist and veteran turntablist Ali Colleen, Liberation Conversation is a music program that celebrates songs about freedom and music that makes us free. With an effortless, largely vocal, blend of songs from across global traditions, from world music, to spiritual jazz, to R&B, soul, gospel and hip-hop, the program serves as a joyful exploration of the real reasons why human beings make music: to build identity, to seek kinship, and often to assert oneself within systems designed to keep the marginalized on the margins. Turn up your radio, get your groove on and return to jazz’s powerful raison d’etre (reason for living).
