Update: Oregonians found eligible for coverage through the health insurance exchange will have an extra week to select a plan. The deadline was extended on Friday.
Cover Oregon says it’s experiencing high web traffic and call volume Friday.
That’s because 5 p.m. brings the deadline to choose a private health insurance plan from Oregon’s exchange — to get coverage that starts January 1.
“This deadline is for folks who turned in their applications complete by December 4 and now need to choose their private plan,” said Cover Oregon spokesman Michael Cox.
Cox says those who choose private plans after 5 p.m. Friday are eligible for coverage starting February 1.
Cox says Cover Oregon has enrolled more than 36,000 people in health plans.
