An Oregon company is working to buy a facility in McMinnville and manufacture unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones.
Ben Berry is the CEO of Airship Technology Group, a company that designs drones. His company plans to make an offer for one of seven buildings on the Evergreen Aviation campus.
“The thing that we need is production-ready facilities, and that’s what’s located in McMinnville,” says Berry. “We’ve already drafted a letter offer for one of the buildings that we should be submitting fairly soon now.
Berry says he hopes to employ at least fifty-eight people at the drone manufacturing facility.
His company specializes in drones that can be used for fire suppression, search and rescue, law enforcement, or agricultural uses. The Airship Technology facility would be the first of its kind to manufacture these types of drones in Oregon.
