A grand jury in Deschutes County has indicted a Bend man. The charges stem from a fatal hit-and-run accident this January in Bend.
It’s been nearly three months since Anthony Martin was killed. It was around 11 p.m. when he was struck by a car while he was crossing the street with his bicycle.
The driver didn’t stop and Martin died at the scene.
On Tuesday, a grand jury handed down an indictment in that case.
Bret Lee Biedscheid will face one count of criminal negligent homicide and one count of failure to perform the duties of a driver when a person is killed.
Les Schwab Tire Center confirms that Biedscheid is the company’s Director of Accounting.
According to a statement from the Deschutes County District Attorney’s office, the grand jury made the indictment after reviewing testimony from witnesses and law enforcement officers as well as video taped evidence.
Biedscheid is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday. Calls to him and his attorney were not immediately returned.
