Honor Flight Brings 28 Veterans To WWII Memorial

A nonprofit group that flies aging veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the war memorials recently flew 28 World War II veterans from Oregon to the nation’s capital.

The Mail Tribune reports that Honor Flight of Oregon recently raised $40,000 to send veterans to the Washington, D.C.

Since the flights began for local veterans in June of 2010, five flights have been made. Another is planned for April or May of 2013.

The Oregon group has about 70 WWII veterans from southwest Oregon on its waiting list for the flights, including three women veterans, she said.
