The Idaho Wine Commission has been approved for two grants totaling about $118,000 to promote Idaho wines and educate grape growers and winemakers.
The proposed grant projects have been selected by the Idaho State Department of Agriculture as two of 15 specialty crop projects submitted to USDA’s Specialty Crop Block Grant Program for funding approval, expected in September.
The grants will aid in IWC’s ultimate goals of marketing and promoting Idaho’s wine industry while providing educational resources for industry members, said Sara Dirks, IWC marketing and grant manager.
The wine industry in Idaho has come a long way and is making great strides, and the grants will be used to raise awareness of the quality grapes and wine the state is producing, as well as funding education for producers to continue improving, she said.
