The top administrator for the Columbia River Crossing has ordered an internal audit of the project.
The CRC is planning a replacement for the aging Interstate 5 bridge connecting Oregon and Washington.
CRC Spokeswoman Mandy Putney says the audit was not prompted by any recent records request or news report.
“The hope would be it provides some insight or tools that will help refine our system that we’ll incorporate as we move forward, and that’ll help CRC continue to move from the environmental phase into pre-construction planning activities,” Putney said.
The timeline for the audit hasn’t been firmed up yet, but Putney says it will be underway this year.
She also says part of the auditors’ work will be to draft a regular schedule for future audits.
