A Portland State University police officer shot and killed a man early Friday morning.

The name of the man and the officers involved in the shooting were not immediately released.

According to Portland police, at 1:30 a.m. on June 29, PSU Police Department officers were in the area of Southwest 6th Avenue and Southwest College street when they became aware of a disturbance near the Cheerful Tortoise, located at 1939 Southwest 6th Avenue.

The PSU officers contacted the people believed to be involved in the disturbance. Shortly after contacting the people, the PSU officers broadcast that shots had been fired.
