Man Who Died In Sisters Confrontation Was From Texas

A man who died after Oregon state troopers opened fire during a traffic stop near Sisters has been identified as a 34-year-old Texas resident.

Deschutes County District Attorney Patrick Flaherty on Wednesday identified the man who died last Friday as William Edward Hall. Public records show an address in Arlington, Texas.

Flaherty did not release any additional details regarding the shooting and did not identify the two troopers who opened fire. The shooting is under investigation.

State police have said a driver displayed a gun after being stopped because of a driving complaint, then drove off. Troopers forced the man to stop again between two patrol cars. Police said two troopers fired when the driver showed the handgun again.

The gunfire came just a day after a motorist died in another part of Oregon after a shootout with a trooper.
