Officials: No Steroids Linked To Meningitis Shipped To Oregon

The Oregon Health Authority says none of the steroids linked to an outbreak of fungal meningitis were shipped to the state, and there have been no reported cases of the disease in Oregon.

Health officials said Tuesday that they’ve urged 11 Oregon clinics that received other products from the New England Compounding Center to immediately remove them from their shelves as a precaution. The Massachusetts specialty pharmacy has recalled all of its products following the outbreak that has sickened 119 people and killed 11.

The state also has notified emergency rooms, hospitals and laboratories to be on the lookout for cases of the rare disease. The outbreak has been tied to steroid shots for back pain.
