More than 40,000 Oregonians have already selected their health insurance plans through Healthcare.gov for next year. That compares to about 35,000 at the same time last year.
Open enrollment for individuals lasts through the end of January. But anyone who wants to make sure they have coverage Jan. 1, needs to have signed up by next Thursday, Dec. 15.
Most consumers will be re-enrolled in the same plan if they don’t act. But consumer groups are encouraging people to log on to Healthcare.gov to do some comparative shopping.
Of the 130,000 Oregonians enrolled in the marketplace this year, about 95,000 received financial help. The average premium tax credit was $250 a month.
President-elect Trump’s campaign page still calls for a repeal of Obamacare. But he has since said he might hang onto popular provisions such as the prohibition against denying coverage for pre-existing conditions.
