After months of debate, the Medford City Council appears poised to give a green light to ride-sharing companies such as Uber and Lyft while striving to create a level playing field with taxi companies.
“If anyone looks at the ordinance, TNC (transportation network companies) and taxi companies are treated fairly,” Councilor Kevin Stine said.
However, local taxi companies say they don’t think the new ordinance goes far enough in creating a level playing field.
The council will debate the ordinance at its 6 p.m. meeting Thursday at Medford City Hall, 411 W. Eighth St.
