Oregon’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.3 percent in January — the lowest it’s been since the state began keeping records in 1976.
The last time rates were comparable was in the mid-1990s, during the dot-com boom.
Growth was considerable in construction, which added 10,000 jobs, or more than 11 percent. Other growing industries include transportation, financial activities and health care.
The only industries to cut jobs last month were manufacturing, mining and logging.
