Area neighborhoods and businesses were evacuated Tuesday as emergency crews respond to the Highway 97 Fire, in Klamath Falls.

Homes on Flowers Lane and parts of Wocus Road, as well as employees at ESI Inc. and iQor, were told to leave the area as firefighters responded to the blaze, which was reported around 11:15 a.m. near milepost 272 on Highway 97.

Other areas, including nearby trailer parks on Wocus Road and Highway 97, Super 8 Motel, America’s Best Inn and Pilot Travel Center, were told to be ready for a possible evacuation. Other buildings further down Wocus Road were told to anticipate a potential evacuation if the fire spread.

Areas near the fire were also without power after Pacific Power cut electricity as a safety precaution.
