You may have seen the sideways grin of a puppy making the rounds in the media lately, with his misaligned snout and oddly protruding teeth.
His name is Picasso, and he’s captured hearts around the world, from right here at his home — albeit temporary — in rural Eugene.
Picasso and his brother, Pablo, both 10 months old and believed to be a mix of pitbull and corgi, were dumped at a Southern California shelter two months ago. Both were on the list for euthanizing when Liesl Wilhardt, founder of Eugene’s Luvable Dog Rescue, stepped in.
“I saw his picture and … I just had a vision right then,” Wilhardt said. “He had the sweetest eyes, and I thought, ‘Wow, this dog is amazing. There is something special about this dog, and we have to take him.’”
