Oregon Senator Ron Wyden has been a staunch supporter of digital privacy rights for years. He says Apple should not be forced to comply through any new laws.

“I’m very very opposed to any legislation that would force companies to weaken the security  of their products. And that would include legislation that would criminalize strong encryption or force companies to stockpile encryption keys.”

The week in politics also saw an emergence of the financial pasts of the top candidates for Portland mayor.

And Jeb Bush is out as a presidential candidate.

Where will all that money go now?

On Friday, Morning Edition host Geoff Norcross spoke with OPB's Senior Political Reporter Jeff Mapes and Jim Moore, who runs the Tom McCall Center for Policy Innovation at Pacific University, about the political climate at the moment.
