The Portland International Airport is preparing for the spring break travel surge set to begin Thursday.

According to the Port of Portland, roughly 955,000 travelers are expected to use the PDX airport during the peak spring travel period — March 21 through April 7. Those dates encompass both Oregon and Washington school spring breaks.

The airport is expected to be busiest March 21–22 and April 1. The Port estimates roughly 57,000 travelers will pass through the international airport each of those days.

The normal daily average is almost 51,000 this time of year.

Last year, the airport set an all-time passenger record of 19.8 million travelers.

Though it's early, the airport says it is on track to break that record in 2019.
