At least 7 Portland mayoral candidates will debate at Revolution Hall Monday night. A previously scheduled debate between only two candidates – Ted Wheeler and Jules Bailey – was cancelled Sunday night by The Oregonian, which was set to host it.

Jim Brunberg is a co-owner of Revolution Hall. He tells OPB mayoral candidates have confirmed they will attend a debate tonight at 6:30. He says former mayoral candidate Jefferson Smith, Willamette Week reporter Beth Slovic, and Street Roots editor Israel Bayer will moderate the event.

The doors open at 5:30. The debate will last until 8:30.

The Oregonian had originally sponsored the debate, but canceled Sunday night, citing security concerns.

A Facebook group called ‘Tell the Oregonian to stop choosing our mayoral candidates for us,’ called for civil disobedience because the debate only included two candidates. The group had threatened to lock the doors from the outside.
