Porter, 61, is suspected of driving his blue Mazda Tribute on the sidewalk in May at the Portland State University campus. The incident occurred at Southwest 6th Avenue and Montgomery Street, in downtown Portland.

Police said three women were on the sidewalk when they were hit and badly injured by Porter's vehicle.

Porter told investigators he didn't know the victims.

In addition to attempted murder, Porter's been charged with three counts of first degree assault and reckless driving.

Court records show Porter didn't have any significant prior criminal history prior to the incident.
