After several days of freezing temperatures, snow began falling early Friday morning in the Portland area.

Cold temperatures, snow and wind hit the state Friday and don’t seem in a hurry to leave.

The Portland Public Schools remain open.

Many other schools were delayed or closed.

The snow is expected to taper off and it will be windy in Portland this afternoon.
