Two new wildfires sparked by a lightning storm last week are burning northeast of Detroit near the Breitenbush Community, fire officials said Saturday.
The largest of the two fires is 30 acres and burning on Devil’s Ridge, about three miles from Breitenbush area.
Two fire teams and two helicopters are fighting the blazes, which are considered the most serious of eight fires sparked by last Thursday’s thunderstorm.
Officials have been in contact with local residents but haven’t issued any evacuation orders yet.
