Almost every afternoon, Carl and Anne Best take their black toy poodle to the Amazon Small Dog Park.
But the “last few days have been terrible — too hot and smoky at that time,” Anne Best, 68, said.
So Tuesday the couple from south Eugene flipped their schedule and visited the park in the morning to exercise their dog, Henry, hoping to avoid the worst of the wildfire smoke choking the southern Willamette Valley .
The Bests were among many other residents who changed their outdoor routines because of the acrid haze.
