Updated (Wed., Dec. 6, 2017, 7:50 a.m.): Willie Taggart is going to do something else.

After only one season as Oregon’s head football coach, Taggart is leaving to accept the same position at Florida State.

Oregon has named co-offensive coordinator Mario Cristobal as the interim coach for the Las Vegas Bowl. A source told The Register-Guard that defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt plans to join Taggart in Tallahassee, Fla.

Two days shy of a calendar year since Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens hired Taggart away from South Florida on Dec. 7, 2016, the 41-year-old Palmetto, Fla., native is headed back to his home state.
