First Washington Marijuana Vending Machine Debuts In Seattle

Getting marijuana in Washington will be easier with the introduction of pot vending machines.

KING 5 in Seattle reports that like soda or snacks, Seattleites can now visit vending machines for marijuana flowers, edibles and merchandise.

The ZaZZZ marijuana vending machine opened Tuesday at a local medical marijuana dispensary. The television station reports that the vending machine, from Arizona-based American Green, is the “first age-verifying, climate controlled, self-service dispensary.”

The company was inspired by cigarette machines in bars that have gone extinct in recent years. To keep marijuana out of the hands of minors, these machines will have an advanced ID-scanner that verifies a customer’s identity and age among other information before dispensing.

While you would think that this is another case of a machine taking over a person’s job, the dispensary said it will never be left unattended. Plus, the vending machine is located inside, so at the very least, a person’s medical marijuana card will be checked at the door before they can access the machine.
